Sangenjaya,Shoin Shrine,Gotokuji Temple

After strolling around Sangenjaya, walk along the Karasuyama River Green Road to Shoin Shrine Station. Alternatively, it is fun to take the Tamagawa Line of the Chinchin train to the front of Shoin Shrine. After going around the shopping street and shopping, we will visit Shoin Shrine. Next, walk to Gotokuji Temple, and after visiting, return home from Gotokuji Station on the Odakyu Line.

Along this green road, there are shrines and temples related to history, such as Gotokuji Temple, Setagaya Castle Park, Shoin Shrine, and Taishido Ensenji Temple. There are many benches, so you can rest comfortably.

Matsukage Shrine Shopping Street (30 minutes)

Shoin Shrine Dori Shoeikai Shopping Street is a spacious straight road that connects Shoin Shrine in the north and Setagaya Dori in the south . The street where this shopping street is located was once the approach to Shoin Shrine.

The “Bakumatsu Restoration Festival” held here every autumn is one of the three major festivals in Setagaya. Many Bakumatsu fans from all over the country come to see the “Kiheitai Parade” where people wearing Bakumatsu costumes parade through the shopping streets.

Shoin Shrine (30 minutes)

Shoin Shrine is a shrine located in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, and Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Shoin Yoshida, a thinker and educator at the end of the Tokugawa shogunate, and his disciples Hirobumi Ito, Aritomo Yamagata, and students of the Shokasonjuku Academy are the gods of worship. It is revered as a god of learning.

Gotokuji Temple (30 minutes)

Gotokuji is a temple of the Soto sect located in Gotokuji 2-chome, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo. Originally Rinzai sect. The mountain number is Gotokuji. According to one theory, it is the birthplace of Maneki Neko. It is said that Naotaka Ii was invited by a cat to the gate, avoided thunderstorms, and was delighted to hear the Osho law, and later became the Ii family’s bodhisattva.

Gotokuji Station

Gotokuji Station is a station on the Odakyu Electric Railway Odawara Line, located in Gotokuji 1-chome, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo. The station number is OH 10. You can transfer to Yamashita Station on the Tokyu Setagaya Line.
